Gaming from separate locations?
Here’s what’s working for us!
For the past few years, we have had to figure out how to play board games virtually. Below are our recommendations for what games have worked for us really well! These games each have something that make them easy to play virtually. Each game is meant to play with others while in a video meeting format.
We think you’ll love these games…check them out and choose the ones that look fun to start playing virtually!

Codenames
Codenames is a party game that sets two teams in a race to identify their "spies in the field". With twenty five potential spy names and being limited to one-word clues, teams need to be creative and clever in their clue-giving. The team that wins is the first to correctly identify all their spies' Codenames.

Insider
Insider takes a simple game and adds a fun twist to it. The group has five minutes to ask yes/no questions to figure out what the key word is, and then in the second round the group must figure out who among them already knew the key word from the very start!

Scattergories
Scattergories is a game of creative answers. Each round has a list of 12 categories. A random letter is picked and the group is plunged into a frantic three minutes. Write down an answer for each category starting with the random letter. At the end of the time, you compare answers…if no one else has your answer, you get a point for it. If someone else has it, no points for that answer for either of you. Fast to play, easy to set up, and lots of fun.
All that’s needed is for someone to pre-create the lists on their computer and share their screen. Each person will have their own piece of paper and a writing utensil, and you’re set to play!

Spyfall
In Spyfall, we find ourselves playing as a group of agents. One of us is a spy, and it’s up to the rest of us to figure out who. Everyone but one player will be given the location of our next secret meeting (the spy will get a list of all possible locations). We spend the round asking each other questions about the location, trying to figure out who already knows what it is. But we have to be careful with our answers…the spy can win by either evading our suspicions OR by correctly guessing the location!

Wavelength
Wavelength is a game where you try to connect with your team through clues. The clue giver is given a spectrum (think “Hot Drink” to “Cold Drink”). They are also given a small target on the spectrum. With one clue, they have to get their team to land on the target. So if I said “Coffee”, would you go full-blown “Very Hot”? Would you remember that my favorite drink is iced coffee? Would I intend to use iced coffee, or mean the typical hot coffee? Your team’s chances improve when you and your teammates are thinking on the same Wavelenght.
